What 2022 has been for me so far...
There is no doubt that the amount I've created hasn't been at the level as other years. But, I've identified changes on how I view and value the creation process. In this year I've...
- Progressed in past concepts
- Explored longer and complicated design processes
- Created new work
'Data Nose' (2022) - Gouache & Ink on Canvas Sheet
The start of the blue with orange numbers
This concept came to me in a funny way, it was in my economic's class. The PDF editor I use gives the option to paint, and using random doodles I made shapes, shapes become figures, figures become work.
The 'Data Nose' you see on the right, isnt the first instance of this style. Although I've lost the orginal of 'Data Nose' In the PDF expert drawing option, we can see this concept orginate In other ways...
The images used in the slideshow were all taken from a file created in May 2022, where I would just use the colours blue and orange. Within itself it presented a struggle as blue and orange is an unlikely combo. But being bored in my economics class and IT classes, freedom from boredom trumps all roadblocks.
Lets put in practice
being able to put the concept in a physical example is my goal............ starting with 'data cat' (Gouache on canvas sheet)
progress of 'chess lady'
'Playing Cards' (2022) - oil on wood panel
This is a shift to something different from the previous 'data' style, and it's been in the works since 2021. Although the finish piece was marked in this year, working on this wood panel dated far back, and the concept even further. The piece itself shows the traditional napolentane playing card reworked into this piece. The deck of cards that have been in my family since pretty much I was born has been set in my subconscious through out my life.
The women in the piece is imagery from from the ace of swords, but the region its coined too is not the same as the napolentane... do with that information what you will.
